Based in Ludwigsburg, Germany, Lunch & More prepares and delivers up to 10,000 meals every day to schools, kindergartens and local companies across the region.
For Operations Manager Stephan Schleser, the challenge is making sure a large-scale catering operation runs smoothly every day. Food needs to be transported efficiently, temperature requirements have to be met, and the equipment used by the team has to be robust, durable and practical in daily use.
Producing food at this scale is not just about volume. It requires planning, control, timing and accuracy. As Deputy Head of Production, Laith Hammad works closely with the team to keep the daily flow moving – from preparation and cooking to packing and delivery.
Fresh ingredients are prepared and portioned to match the exact number of servings required across hundreds of locations. Quantities vary, menus rotate, and each delivery has to match the order exactly.
“If one meal is missing, someone doesn’t get lunch. That’s the reality – so everything has to be right,” says Laith Hammad.
Timing is always part of the challenge. Under EU food safety guidelines, hot food can only be held for a limited time – no more than three hours from production to serving. For Lunch & More, that makes every step of the delivery process important.

Supporting large-scale food service without adding complexity
When meals leave the kitchen, every route is already planned and every stop has a serving time to meet. The handover from production to delivery needs to be smooth, so the team can keep the morning schedule moving.
Food is loaded into preheated ScanBox units and moved to designated loading zones, ready for dispatch. From that point, the boxes maintain temperature throughout transport — without external power, monitoring or adjustment.
“Once it’s loaded, it just works. We don’t have to think about it – the temperature holds,” says Laith.
Lightweight construction makes it possible to load more units per vehicle, improving transport efficiency across routes. Ergonomic handling and large, stable wheels support smooth movement through busy kitchens and delivery environments.
“The units are constantly on the move – through the kitchen, into vehicles and out on delivery. Because they’re lightweight and easy to steer, one person can move two at a time. That means fewer trips back and forth, and helps us keep the pace we need,” says Laith.

MEALS A DAY
Every meal counts. At Lunch & More, thousands of people rely on their lunch arriving on time and ready to enjoy.
Robust design built for daily use
The ScanBox units are built to withstand continuous use. Each morning, they are loaded onto one of Lunch & More’s 15 delivery vehicles, transported across the region, unloaded on arrival and moved through kitchens and serving areas.
The units handle repeated loading, unloading and the knocks that come with high-volume food logistics. At the end of each shift, the boxes return from the routes, are cleaned and placed back at their stations – ready to go again the next morning.
“We needed something robust, long-lasting and practical for everyday use. It has to be easy for the team to handle and reliable enough for the pace of our operation,” explains Stephan Schleser.
For Laith Hammad and his team, ScanBox is simply the right fit: practical in the kitchen, reliable on the road and ready for the next day.
